Game Recap

In the region 4AA semifinal game, CCS fell to Central Magnet 6-1 in Murfreesboro Monday night. The Chargers were able to get the first two batters of the game on base, but were unable to score any runs against the Tigers. That would be a theme for the evening as CCS consistently worked deep counts and had base runners, but were unable to push enough runs across. Central Magnet scored 4 runs in the 2nd inning on 3 hits, 2 errors, and a walk and were able to keep that lead until scoring two late insurance runs in the 6th. The best chance for the Chargers came in the 5th when they loaded the bases with two outs. Chris King delivered an RBI single, but that would be it for CCS.

Justin Wheeler had a big day offensively for the Chargers, going 3-4. He was the only Charger with more than one hit. Matthew Mercer took the hill for the Chargers and battled against a very good team, but took the loss, only his second on the season.

With the loss, the Chargers end their season with an impressive 26-7 record. The seven seniors-Aaron Anand, Chris King, Matthew Mercer, Alex Phillips, Cameron Webb, Joseph Wharton, and Justin Wheeler-played their final game for the Chargers, but they all played a major role for the Chargers this year, both on and off the field.
